There are many different criteria that go into the 2008 economic tax stimulus refund checks. Follow these steps to estimate your IRS rebate.
Instructions: How to Calculate Your 2008 IRS Tax Rebate Checks?
Step1 Single taxpayers, who cannot be claimed on anyone else’s tax return and have and adjusted gross income of $75k, will get a rebate of $600. Use an on-line calculator to estimate your refund if your AGI is over $75k.
Step2 Married couples filing jointly, who have an AGI under $150k, will get $1,200. Use an on-line calculator to estimate your refund if your AGI is over $150k.
Step3 Add $300 for each child under age 17 for whom you claimed a child credit on your 2007 return. For married filing separate, only the person who claimed the child credit will get the rebate.
Step4 Seniors and disabled veterans or their widows with a low income, who don’t owe enough income tax to qualify for the full rebate may still receive checks of $300, or $600 if they filed joint returns, however they must file a 2007 tax return in order to receive the check.
Step5 There are a lot of other general criteria that could affect your return. To get a more accurate figure, use a calculator such as this one.
